Laplante
From March 21 to 23, then on March 29 and 31, for 5 days, I cycled from the Ballon d'Alsace (Fr.) to Basel On 99,34 kilometers, I addressed to the people I encountered and asked them how long they had been living there and permission to take a photo or draw a picture of them.
Throughout the territory, I crossed small villages based on farming and forestry economy. In most cases, the people I met told me they had been established there for a long time, often for generations. A recognizable temperament inhabited the people. I believe that it would be possible to find an acquaintance link between each of them that would lead to the summit of the Ballon d'Alsace, like a long family line. Covering two countries a close traditional language also linked the start to the end.
This installation is a sliced tree branch. Each cut contains in the order, each encounter. On one side, the portrait of the person and on the other, the order of encounter, the name of the village, the time life of the person in this location and the distance to Basel, up to point zero.
